Noodle is a Psychedelic Americana band based in Durango, Colorado. It was unofficially formed in 2015, when Sal Sharp and Charlie Brockway started strumming strings together. Their friendship prospered around their mutual interest for music and psychedelic experimentation. The duo forming the acoustic foundation to Noodle, Sharp primarily plays mandolin while Brockway mostly plays acoustic guitar. Two years later, Alex Eckler and Matt Kolbe joined as electric limbs, with Eckler on electric guitar and Kolbe on the keys. Adding elements of rock and jazz, Noodle was expanding into both psychedelia and American heritage music. A few months later, Carlo Fourzan stepped in on bass and Alec Mayes took up the drums. Noodle then had the rhythmic and harmonic synergy to make ambitious strides such as performing polyrhythms or covering Steely Dan. In 2021, Noodle welcomed guitarist Eli Emmitt to the band. Emmitt brings echoes of soul music as well as an impressive wealth of jazz knowledge. All six core members sing, switching in and out on lead and backup. Joining in on sax, Theo Reitwiesner and Michael Zelaya form the reed extension of Noodle and are honorary members of Noodle. In the past year Noodle has had the privilege of opening for nationally-recognized bands such as Boy Named Banjo and Leftover Salmon.
