Born in Detroit, MI. YBM Jimi had many life changing situations happen early. Losing his father to HIV/AIDS when he was just 11 years old, and losing his best friend to gun violence in his teenage years put him into a shell. It wasn’t until he wrote poetry to cope with his issues that he found his gift with music. After going homeless in 2010 living in a studio with only a toilet and his only outlet was music. Producing came easy for YBM Jimi as he taught himself how to make beats while living in the studio. Day in day out recorded music non stop until one record “Delta” hit the radio 95.7 Jamz in Birmingham, AL. YBM Jimi took a break as an artist in 2011 but consistently made beats for dominating main stream artist such as Rocko, Young Dro, Parlae, Mr. Futuristic, Rich Homie Quan, Loso Loaded, Chief Keef, Shawty Lo and many many more. In 2018 YBM Jimi decided to drop music as an artist again. Delivering a new sound and finally opening up about the trauma and pain he’s experienced in life.
