Biography

The story of Lojique is an interesting one. In 1998 Jackson Johnson, “Nickels Hawkeye”, met an emcee by the name of Tyson Pumphrey who took on the moniker of “Othello.” Together they recorded a six-song demo (now known as “One Day You Will Be Not”) which they uploaded to MP3.com. It got the attention of a record label called “Syntax Records” in California. They were offer a five-album contract. Still in the development stage of the group Othello and Nickels added another member to the group. Michael Phillips with the moniker “Page One” was a well-known regional emcee that had recorded with mutual friend, M.G! the Visionary several times. He was a very smart and capable addition. The three of them signed the contract offered by Syntax Records in 2001. Lojique was established and created the classic album “Language Arts.” The album was met with great positive welcome. At this point, Lojique toured with “The Extreme Tour” for a little bit and attended the Gospel Music Awards in Nashville. Shortly after this, Lojique asked to retract their contract with Syntax Records due to the likelihood of signing with Uprok Records. The deal fell through and Othello decided to pursue a solo career. He toured extensively with John Reuben and M.G! the Visionary. Lojique regrouped and signed another deal with ex-Uprok Records Executive, Josh Niemyjski and his label “Illect Recordings.” Lojique recorded “Process of Illumination."
