‘The Songsmiths’ is a band from Hyderabad,India. They comprise of Saikat Basu on Bass and Vocals Avinash Ekka on Guitars and John Mark on drums. They collaborate with different music producers and musicians for their music and live acts. They formed in 2013. Inspired by a range of musical influences from Funk to Blues to Jazz to Disco through to Rock ‘n’ Roll, it gets difficult to pin down a specific genre that the band conforms to. Their strengths have always been strong storytelling, musicality and being unapologetically authentic. However complex the underlying arrangements might be, their philosophy is to offer a great musical journey for its audience. They prefer to call it ‘easy listening’.
