Spawning from the Manchester music scene in 2008 and now sucking in members from all over the UK, the Riot Jazz Brass Band is a nine-piece genre-mashing, foot stomping party behemoth bringing the love buzz to ears and feet all over the world. New album RIOT JAZZ MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY is the culmination of a 15 year mission to spread joy, and get people moving. With three trumpets, three trombones, sousaphone and drums bringing the noise and MC Chunky conducting the chaos with some choice shape-throwing of his own, the result is a gleeful cacophony encompassing jazz, hip hop, drum ‘n’ bass, trap, grime, and more. While the album distils the Riot Jazz sound into a set of ten infectious originals – the energy barely able to be contained on wax – the live show, which has graced stages and festivals all over Europe, including Glastonbury, WOMAD, and Jazz Sous Les Pommiers, fulfils the promise of the band’s name: Blaring horns, pounding beats, sing-a-long chants, dance-a-long choruses and some crowd favourite covers to get those knees up. A high energy performance that doesn’t quit until every member of the audience has been pulled into the maelstrom.
