Biography

Poyraz Baltacıgil is a well-known cellist and was born in 1994 in Istanbul. He gave his first concert at the age of five and started his music education and career at a young age. He first started music with the violin, but after sleeping on the violin in a violin lesson, he wanted to become a cellist and started studying cello. Baltacıgil took part in many international and local festivals as a soloist and gave concerts in important concert halls of the world and Turkey. Also he has many international and national competition prizes. He joined “Larsen Strings” as a 'Performing Artist' in 2019 and took part in important musicians such as Renaud Capuçon, Gautier Capuçon, Daniel Müller-Schott, Alina Pogostkina, Nicolas Altstaedt, Pablo Ferrandez, Milan Milisavljevic, Esther Abrami, Troels Svane, Narek Hakhnazaryan and Tobias Breider. He's been selected "The Best Young Musician of the Year 2016" by Andante Classical Music Magazine. He also has played important works of cello repertoire with many orchestras and conductors. He recorded his first album "Voyages" with Cem Esen. The album include Cello/Piano Sonata by S. Rachmaninov, and Cello/Piano Sonata by Cem Esen. Also he took a part in the "Sei Solo" album project, where Klasik Keyifler brought together successful and innovative Turkish composers and selected successful musicians, and recorded 2 new Turkish works. In addition to his concerts, Poyraz Baltacıgil continues to work on new albums.
