dhf studied Classical, Jazz, Concert and Contemporary music throughout his childhood. He performed on piano, alto saxophone, cello, and choir at school, home and church before leaving his hometown (Jacksonville, FL) for college and life abroad in 2008. That was also the year he discovered songwriting and producing. Today, he continues to build a catalog of R&B, Urban Alternative and cinematic infused sounds. He draws influence from his life, studies, and goals to live a life well done. Early in his career, he released two EP's, including Student vs. Artist (2012) and Songs by Jacob (2016), as Jacob Avis. In 2019, after over a decade of growth and experience, he became dhf, signifying a return to his roots and self.  During that time, he leveraged his education as a teacher, program coordinator, and consultant to build a business. As CEO of Speaklight, he works within the community to promote physical, mental, spiritual, financial, creative and social success.
