Menik has been a sound junkie since his parents bought him a plastic drum at the age of three to stop him banging on house hold furniture when Fleetwood Mac would come on. After 15 years of teaching himself Stevie Ray Vaughn licks and chopping up beats in his bedroom he finally decided to hone his craft by studying a BA Honours degree in Music Technology at Kingston University. When his University put him in accommodation with the film students instead of the rockers he was outraged! However it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as this then sparked his love for cinematic music & sound design. Post University Menik began doing small sound recordist and mix jobs for some loyal friends working in the film industry and it wasn't long until he was given the trust to tackle the post production audio and music. Menik founded Soundsmiths in early 2013 and has since gone on to work with some of todays most promising directors, animators and film producers for some of the biggest companies on the planet. He now lives in Auckland and works remotely with clients in London, NYC, LA and Shanghai. When he's not twisting up sounds for the brands he is writing his own music which has seen great success, receiving air play and features from BBC Radio One, XFM, AIA's Chill & The XXX Channels and Vice's Thump. He has released records on labels such as Deep Heads, Trap Door, Rebirth, Loodma and BBE as well as co produced and remixed records for Ninja Tune artist Submotion Orchestra.
