Geesus Shuttlesworth is far more unconventional than the ordinary man, but his range and aptitude are deserving of a full-on case study. The plant-based, poetic, painting pro hooper was born in Muskegon, Michigan, grew up in Hampton, Virginia, and took his basketball talents to Portugal before fully immersing himself in what many may deem his true calling: rap. There isn’t a single beat on this Earth that he is incapable of rapping on, nor is there a topic he can’t touch on. Whether through a feature verse or his debut project ‘Geesus Pieces,’ we have experienced his confidence, insecurities, perspective on being a Black man in the United States, and how he views the rap game as a whole. There’s no need for gimmicks when you’ve got it like that. New York is called the city that never sleeps, but a beast has truly been awoken in the dreadlocked dynamo.
