EJ Marais was born in Brighton and currently lives in Barcelona, where he has begun to carve out his career as a musician after studying a degree in Humanities. His interests revolved around traditional folk songs and 80s and 90s pop misfits. His recent productions depart from his former classic sound and have taken him to explore the world of contemporary hip-hop beats, Autotune, and R’n’B adlibs. His debut album “CUTS” (2019) managed to capture the attention of the local and international scene, including the track "Love.mp3" which was featured On ROSALIA's 2019 Spotify Playlist. Since then, he has released a bunch of singles and an EP, "Dream Café" (2021), that has broadened his style and taste for classic R’n’B. In 2024, he continues to explore the limits of pop music, shuffling and combining different genres to achieve an unclassifiable result that will combine the best of acoustic folk with electronic music.
