Cat Hope is a composer and performer who creates music that explores the extremities of sound. A conceptually driven practice characterised by aleatoric elements, drone, noise, low volumes and glissandi, her work has an ongoing fascination with low frequency sound. As well as composing art and film music using animated notation, Cat is a songwriter, bassist, flute player and curator. She is the founder of the Decibel new music ensemble, the Australian Bass Orchestra, The Low Tone Orchestra, Gata Negra, Lux Mammoth and Abe Sada. She also performs in noise duos Super Luminum (with Lisa MaKinney), HzHzHz (with Tristen Parr) and Candied Limbs (with Lindsay Vickery). “One of Australia’s most exciting and individual creative voices.” — GRAMOPHONE MAGAZINE UK, 2017.
