Born in East Germany, Ronald KOON's first musical passion was almost exclusively Michael Jackson. In the late 1990s, he discovered French electronic music, which was then becoming popular in the charts. After many nights of partying in clubs and festivals as an enthusiastic partygoer, he first stood behind the decks in a club in 2007, back then still with vinyls. Later, he and his crew organized a legendary party series in his hometown for many years, which was dedicated to French electro of the late 2000s, the “French Kiss”. He then increasingly devoted himself to disco and other electronic sounds of the 1970s & 1980s and began producing his own music. Ronald's sets, which are heavy on edits and presented with eclectic energy, are a mixture of classic and contemporary disco and house. The varied repertoire between jackin', soulful, funky and a touch of UK is always driving, exciting, danceable, always good for a surprise, full of heart and never far from the great voices, grooves, and melodies of the disco era. His often avant-garde and mostly tongue-in-cheek outfits round off Ronald's presence behind the decks to a lasting experience. Ronald KOON's releases on smaller international disco and house labels have already received some attention in the scene. He is a regular member of the DISCOnnect collective, which organizes its own events and publishes a monthly DJ podcast.
