MEUF, vol. 1

MEUF vol. 2

Biography

MEUF is a yearly compilation and concert-series curated by composer and saxophonist Maria Dybbroe, featuring a selection of some of the many interesting female voices on the blossoming field of experimental music in the European countries, working in new collaborations. A new album is released every year on International Women's Day with the mission to foster new musical collaborations and create a platform for female voices in experimental music, who often find themselves a minority. Each ensemble converses in an extensive sonic vocabulary including lamenting string harmonies, vocals in dialogue with electronic sci-fi creatures, brass instruments that scream plaintively in a discussion, synthesizers that softly embrace your body or electronics that menacingly hail you into a storm. The albums are multi-coloured and multi-faceted and take you on a journey into the endless possibilities of music, to experience new things and be amazed. "This record does not revolve around anyone specific, but rather celebrates the power of collective synergy," says Dybbroe. By combining each artist's distinctive voice and musical approach, the MEUF compilations evokes the essence of unity and the meaning of music as a universal language. With the organic blend of each participating musician's talents, the album transforms into an auditory tapestry that pushes the boundaries of expression.
