The story is about a man named Shiels, who is eccentric and loves adventure and psychotropic substances. He travels to South America in search of a sacred plant that will allow him to connect with his ancestors. During his journey, he faces surreal creatures and eventually finds the plant. He eats it and falls asleep, only to wake up in a hospital bed after having an allergic reaction.
