Biography

With a performance career that spans over 20 years, in 40 states and 20 countries, Philadelphia native, Kenneth Overton adds to his extensive repertoire with his album “A Bright Tomorrow”, a collection of new arrangements of Broadway Standards, mostly compiled from the Black Experience. On the Opera Stage, Kenneth’s career has included performances with The Metropolitan Opera, The Royal Danish Opera, San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, Palacio Bellas Artes, L’Opera de Montreal, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Welsh National Opera to name a few. Kenneth’s concert career has seen him grace the stages of Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and The Kennedy Center. Kenneth can also be heard on numerous recordings including the 2020 GRAMMY AWARD WINNING RECORDING in the title role of Richard Danielpour’s “The Passion of Yeshua”, Angela Rice’s oratorio, “Thy Will be Done” and a solo recording of Spirituals and Art Songs of African-Amer entitled “Been in de storm so long”. Upcoming releases include, “Hailstork at 80” a project celebrating the life and works of Adolphus Hailstork, with the Harlem Chamber Players, and Damien Geter’s ‘An African American Requiem”, recorded live at Kennedy Center for Choral Arts DC. Kenneth also made his Broadway Debut in Baz Luhrman’s Production of La Boheme.
