Biography

An Italian composer of opera, oratorios, vocal chamber music and cantatas, and minuets for instrumental performances. Probably born in Padua, Cocchi held positions in Venice, London (where he met The Mozarts -- Carlisle House -- and was replaced by J. C. Bach -- The Haymarket Theatre), and once again Venice. Cocchi was renowned and noted for his ability to arrange musical structures in such a way as to help lay the foundations for the Classical era: a mused musical artisan. ~ Keith Johnson, Rovi
