"Since their inception, WeAreSkywalkers have approached creating projects rooted in a sort of extravagant backstory that weaves story lines & overarching themes. With their debut, SIM:001, they created alter egos wherein their superhero-like counterparts find themselves contained & interrogated. Their second effort, Non Plus Ultra is a bold continuum, in which, we find our "heroes" escaping said confines & escape into a seemingly ever evolving asylum filled with friends & foils. After a local tour, the duo, real names David & Cal, have seemingly disappeared. One year & half after the release of NPU, the duo would release the name of their latest album This World Is Our Playground. The project is a declaration from the duo. Stepping out from 'behind the curtains' as it were & not rely on the theatrics they're proficient at. This offering is direct & to the point, miles away from the previous efforts where their aspirations could be viewed as metaphorical. If SIM:001 & NPU were films, The Playground is the director's Q&A. The project is filled with a different assortment of sounds & themes. Although the boys have decided to depart from their regular storyline thread, they managed to weave a small narrative in the EP via skits where they are kicked out of the house for the day & what happens next. Comedian Faahz plays the boys' perturbed Uncle. The project clocks in under 30mins & is a perfect Rap Album play through from the Inland Empire's hardest working rap duo."
