Fatter, Unhappier, Less Productive

Biography

This UK trio was comprised of Steve Elson (vocals/guitar), Jamie Moses (guitar) and Alan Coates (guitar). They were further augmented by drummers Paul Fenton and Zak Starkey. In 1987, they enjoyed an instant success with a straightforward rock song, ‘Comin’ On Strong’, which reached number 18 in the UK singles chart. This visual band used videos to promote their raw and exciting sound. Much was resting on their second EMI Records single, ‘Love On The Side’, which brought a lighter, guitar-influenced sound. Although it received plenty of radio play, it was unable to dent the charts. It took nearly a year for the release of their third single, ‘Do You Really Want Me Back’, which was a bland effort considering the promise they had shown. They were subsequently dropped by their record company despite completing an album. The Rough With The Smooth finally saw the light of day in 2007.
