The rise to success has been slow but steady for Brooklyn rapper HollyWoodYSA. Starting out as a member of The CottonClubKidz in the late 2000s and made it through struggles with various labels before standing on his own. Over the years, his storytelling and smart lyrics would catch the attention of fans and other artists alike, and along with prolific output in the form of solo mixtapes and EPs, Y.S.A had mid-profile collaborations with Skyzoo and viral internet acts “A Lost People”. With 2 studio albums and many other releases in a growing discography, his 2014 Lotta Money House - released album Real Recognize Real was his most well-received project. Born Jonathan Lashawn Seward and raised in Brooklyn, HollywoodYSA originally started on a Long Island Independent label CCK, but in 2014 he made the move to LBanks DaBossy’s Lotta Money House imprint. He appeared on The Deans List tour Christmas compilation album that same year. Also in 2014, Y.S.A’s #TripleRThursdays was released, one by one every week, from July to August. After releasing a series of songs, September, Y.S.A released 2014's Real Recognize Real, a album award winning and much buzzed-about collaboration with then-newcomer producer Official Stichel. Gaining local attention with songs like “Brooklyn Lights” featuring Skyzoo, “701” featuring fellow underground rapper Naj Is Dope and the album’s standout song, Pinnacle & O.J. After a brief Hiatus, Y.S.A issued another album effort, The Dime Series.
