The Sweethearts were the goddamn wrecking crew of pop punk sweetness from the heart of Texas. With Linette Liendo and Ren Hernandez at the core, the band cranked out pop punk anthems that hit like a ton of bricks. Drawing on the simple brilliance of the Ramones they blended buzzsaw guitars and fast tempos with sugary-sweet melodies, creating a sound that was catchy and frenetic. Their final full-length album, Traces of Time, was recorded at Sonic Iguana and produced by Mass Giorgini (acclaimed engineer and member of the influential pop punk band Squirtgun) who captured the essence of their high-energy sound and infectious hooks. Sharing stages with punk legends like Marky Ramone, Screeching Weasel and Riverdales, playing with the The Queers, The Dollyrots, The Eyeliners, and touring with the likes of Kepi Ghoulie and The Copyrights, The Sweethearts proved they belonged in the big leagues of underground pop punk.
