Growing up in Columbus, OH, Tres Carter was raised on R&B by his single mother and older sister. After Cash Money Records took over the ‘99-’00’s, he was introduced to what soon became his real passion: Hip-Hop. Inspired by Lil’ Wayne’s diverse delivery and JAY-Z’s scholarly wordplay, the name Tres was befitting for the third Carter emcee. While in high school, Ohio producer Sinatra, hosted a talent show where Carter took the stage. As a producer for Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and other A-List artists, Sinatra recruited Tres as his prodigy. During this time, Tres’ life collided head on with God and the Bible. After surrendering his life to Jesus, Tres gained a new musical circle that included artists like Christon Gray, Swoope, Marlo Scott, Jonathan Baker, Yaves Ellis, Kambino, Armond WakeUp and more. While thriving musically, Tres was in the midst of launching a hair salon — the realization of a childhood dream — as well as developing in his new marriage. After becoming a sponsored platform educator for BaBylissPro USA, Carter wants to offer a transparent view into the plights of a young, black millennial, struggling to balance the tension between career ambitions and marriage. Tres is on a mission to empower black men in their pursuit of success while admonishing them to uphold their responsibilities as a husband and father. Vibe out to the rhythms of his life as Tres Carter shares his heart.
