Born and raised in Philly. Resides in Houston. Two words, self-made. Gares has been grinding as an independent artist for years. With no manager, no promo team, no label, the kid writes and engineers all of his own music from scratch. While still finding his voice, the rapper/singer is very versatile from song to song. "Maybe I Shouldn't Drive" is a project where Gares was really testing the waters with his high pitched auto-tune vocals. While bars and lyricism is what Gares truly loves, he knew making catchier music may be the route he has to take. "It's not that I stopped being lyrical, I just kind of started having more fun while making the music" Gares stated. "I not only want people hear my story, I want them to be able to memorize the music and melodies help that a lot. It's music like that, that tends to hit the charts faster. When I get to melodizing and singing, you really feel the soul. It comes from the heart, that's me man.. that's me." Time flies when you think about it. Gares comes back with his best project to date "No Lies & Cut Ties". Remember all that singing stuff? Yea well, Gares got back to his roots and did the exact opposite. While minimizing the singing and using melodies a lot less, it was all about making good rap songs. Bars. Cleverness. Higher-thinking. Manifestation. This is a true hip hop album. You can hear the aggression in his voice from the first words. The hunger we thought we'd never hear again through the auto-tune phase. Gares is back.
