Born in Montreal, the Canadian and Malian musician, singer-songwriter and producer has a long and impressive resume. SIMBO founded and runs The Shed Montreal, a popular speakeasy event series that features 100% improvised Hip Hop, R&B and Jazz, as well as secret DJ nights. Through the Shed, SIMBO has worked with world renowned musicians like Casey Benjamin (Q-Tip, Robert Glasper Experiment), Melanie Charles (SZA, Mach-Hommy) and Endea Owens (Jon Batiste, Solange) to name just a few. The Shed also curated after parties for the Montreal International Jazz Festival from 2019 to 2023. In 2021, Simbo curated, wrote and produced a tribute show and radio documentary with Radio-Canada, to celebrate 50 years of Marvin Gaye - What’s Going On. With the same incredible ensemble of 13 musicians, he recorded SOUNDSORCERER. Blending the large ensemble traditions of jazz, with R&B melodies and hip-hop production, SOUNDSORCERER blurs the lines between soulful R&B, experimental Hip Hop and the rich heritage of jazz.
