Philadelphia has come to be known as the “land of the spitters,” where artists can differentiate themselves by out-rapping the competition. For Kur (pronounced “Core”), he’s been a conversation starter within the city’s hip-hop networks. Kur began bubbling with a string of mixtapes that put his rapping in the forefront: piercing punchlines, gripping tales of the streets, and introspection. Throughout his career Kur has worked with artists like Dave East, Lil Uzi Vert, A$AP Twelvyy, Quilly, and Lil Reese, and more, and with cosigns from Timabland, Pusha T and Meek Mill. In 2016, Kur released his most telling EP to date, 'Have Not' which elicited a response from G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha T who shared on Twitter: “Your truth is your greatness.” That same year, Kur performed one of the Cyphers on the BET Hip Hop Awards. Kur collaborated with Dave East for his 2017 EP, 'Born Broke, Die Rich,' which was recorded and released in the span of two days. In the summer of 2019 Kur dropped 'Shakur' which lead singles “Crack,” and “Soul” featuring Mozzy, helped the album reach over 10M combined streams on Apple Music and Spotify. In November 2019, he surprise released 'Spare Me' which reached #14 on Apple Music’s Hip-Hop/Rap chart, #20 on its All Genres chart and prompted Meek Mill to proclaim Kur “the soul of Philly.” Lyrical, fiery and true to the craft, Kur’s new LP 'It Shouldn't Be Like This' expands on the heartfelt street aesthetic he’s built his reputation on.
