Yasser Tejeda, the award-winning Dominican composer, guitarist, vocalist, and producer, passionately advocates for new generations to explore, promote, and enrich their cultural heritage. With a diverse musical portfolio that includes three commercially successful albums (La Madrugá [2023], Kijombo [2019], and Mezclansa [2009]), Yasser has established himself as a prominent figure in the conversation about Afro-Dominican roots music and its fusion with jazz, rock, and Caribbean rhythms. His latest album, La Madrugá, includes a collaboration with Vicente García on "En El Naranjo," as well as the singles "Tu Ere’ Bonita" and "Todo Va a Marchar,” which premiered on WNYC’s New Sounds with John Schaefer. This album earned him a nomination for Best Alternative Artist at the 2024 Premios Soberano in the Dominican Republic. Yasser Tejeda's music has captivated audiences globally, with performances at esteemed festivals such as Isle of Light (Dominican Republic), Latinxt (Chicago, IL), and the Afro-Latino Fest (Washington, DC). He has also sold out prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall (Manhattan, New York), Frëims (Mexico City, MX), and the Apollo Music Café (Harlem, New York). Furthermore, his catalog has been studied by renowned institutions like UCLA, Fordham University, Rutgers, and Princeton. As Juan Luis Guerra, the most influential Dominican artist in the world, put it, Tejeda is "a marvelous example of what’s happening with Dominican music.”
