Biography

Juan Ricardo Chavez, better known as J Salez, was born and raised in Corona, CA; both parents from Jalisco, Mexico. Both parents sang Mariachi music; exposing J to music at an early age. At 21 years old, J Salez began to train in Bachata, learning the dance from people such as Ataca. Shortly afterward, he started traveling across the US & to countries like Canada, France, and Brazil, where he showcased his talents as a performer, teacher, and dancer. As time went on, his love for Bachata & the culture grew. In 2019, J Salez released his first Bachata single, “Fiel,” which was well received in the Bachata scene. A year later, he released his debut single as J Salez, “Señorita,” & began diving into multiple genres such as R&B, Reggaeton, & Dancehall to develop himself as an artist. In 2022, J Salez released the single Chill and decided to recreate the record as a Bachata. The remix, Chill Bachata was a pivotal moment for his career; it was enthusiastically received in the Bachata scene and caught the attention of Latin artist manager & producer DerekVinci. J Salez and DerekVinci have joined forces to climb to the top of the Bachata scene. J Salez wishes to use his love for dance, which he gained in childhood while admiring artists like Michael Jackson, Usher, Justin Timberlake, & Chris Brown, and bring that flavor to his Bachata performances. This year J Salez is releasing his debut EP, “California Love Bachata,” to continue his expansion & growth in the Bachata industry.
