Biography

Piraí Vaca is one of the most well-known Bolivian artists, having played on stages across four continents. Due to the intensity of his playing, his technique and his carisma, he enchantes public all over the world. In the Washington Post, the following comment appeared: “… he made an impact on the audience with his musicality and control…” The German newspaper, Rhein Zeitung, wrote: “… and without any fear of exaggeration, we can say that with Piraí Vaca at the Mosel Music Festival one of the most outstanding guitarists in the world ...”. Some of the many prizes he has received are: Fellowship of the Americas, given by the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts; World Class Bolivian awarded by the Latin American Press Association and the Bolivian Association of Press Workers; The National Award for Music, given by the Asssociation of Writers, Plastic Artists and Musicians from Bolivia; the Excellence Award, given by the Escuela Europea de Negocios, and the Most Outstanding Bolivian, awarded by the United Nations for Youth. Pirai has delighted audiences with his concerts in more than 30 countries in North and South America, Europe and Asia. He has played for Queen Sofia of Spain, Princess Mako from Japan, former World Bank President James D. Wolfenson and various heads of State such as Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Evo Morales (Bolivia), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua) and Hugo Chavez, (Venezuela).
