Biography

As he transformed his family living room into a music studio, Baptiste Castets found his playground. His two parents were music lovers and gave him the opportunity from a very young age to play many instruments: drums, guitar, piano, accordion, organ, but also to learn how to use a cassette recorder, microphones and record his very first compositions. He worked in studio for recordings with Gustave Reichert’s quartet (Simon Chivallon, Gabriel Midon, Maxime Berton, Jazz Family - 2017), Gabriel Midon' s quartet (Pierre Bernier, Elinoa, Edouard Monnin, Jazz Family - 2018), Mohamed Najem’s project (Arthur Henn, Clément Prioul, Youssef Zayed, Label Ouest - 2024), After Sessions quartet (Sara Longo, Etienne Vincent, Richard Metairon (Self production - 2016). Wordwide, he went on tour in Gabon (Auditorium de Libreville), in Katara Jazz Festival in Doha (Quatar), at the Malaga Jazz Festival, Barcelona Jazz Festival (Spain), Odessa Jazz Festival (Romania), in Martinique Jazz Festival, on tour in England in 2018 (Union Chapell in London, Town Hall in Birmingham, RNCM Hall in Manchester, Saint Mary's Cathedral in Edinburgh). It occurs in many French festivals In March 2024, he released his first album as a leader, Patience, which is released by the prestigious Catalan label Fresh Sound New Talent. On this recording he invites Frédéric Borey on saxophone, Sébastien Llado on trombone, Edouard Monnin on piano and Gabriel Midon on double bass.
