Biography

Marco Lewis is a young French songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He started music at the age of 9, as the leader, singer and drummer of a Blues-Rock band. The young band did a lot of shows (including opening for renowned artists like The Pogues, Dr Feelgood, Stéphane Sansévérino...). He studied at the American School of Modern Music in Paris, then at the prestigious School of Jazz at The New School of New York, from which he left with a Master in Jazz Global Performance. He collaborated and worked with some of the biggest names of the Parisian and New York music scene, such as John Legend, Jon Batiste, Cédric Hanriot, Brad Thomas-Ackley, Charles Turner, Mike Stern, Ron Carter and Reggie Workman . He put out his first project "Esperanza" in 2019, which combines the harmonic and rhythmic complexity of Jazz, the lyricism of Folk, and the dynamism of Pop. He spent the health crisis in a small country house. This unprecedented situation and its consequences led to new projects. The feeling of exclusion, isolation and vulnerability brought him back to simplicity. Therefore, he recorded a bunch of singles, in a Indie Pop-Folk kind of genre, where he tried to translate his emotions in a clearer way. Since then, between Indie-Folk and Pop (like Bon Iver, John Butler, Ed Sheeran and John Mayer, Amistat, Hollow Coves and Kaleo...), Marco Lewis moves forward to build his original musical identity.
