In a short timespan of only 5 months since the release of his debut mixtape, HYLER returns with an even darker body of work that captivates the pinnacle of complexity within one’s introspection. Colorless Dreams elaborates on the different compasses of morality within the ideas of love, lust, and of course, the regular hedonism rooted in sex, drugs and alcohol. So says the R&B singer himself in the album’s 1st track of the same name; “The only time that you exist, is in a vivid place”. At this point, HYLER has plummeted to the deepest point in which he realizes there are two separate realities. The one that he wakes up to every day, and the one in his delusional thoughts, or dreams rather. Throughout the album, HYLER takes to new heights (or new depths), the concepts of infidelity, manipulation and mistrust. Once again, paired with his signature haunting falsetto closely mirroring that of his biggest inspiration, HYLER also throws in an experimental remix/cover of The Weeknd’s 2011 hit, “The Zone” with guest vocals from ALPHV. Every song ties the album together perfectly in a sonically twisted, yet alluring soundscape that pulls the listener even deeper into his world, his universe and his darkest, innermost thoughts. Although the project is faster-paced, the material has become more raw and wicked than it was before.
