Dutch native Teddy Robinson spent a lot of his childhood equally obsessed with the beats and flow of Nas and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and the alternate worlds and soundscapes he could enter through games like Final Fantasy X. These two quickly led to a bridge into music production and after moving to Tokyo he started attending local rap events to perform and seek out other artists. Making his first splashes in the scene with Sober Lies and Wet Feet as well as his Ootoya Dreams beat tape, he later became known for his YouTube videos about his daily life in Japan. Eventually COVID forced him back to The Netherlands, but before leaving he invited all the talented artists he had met to a two-week non stop studio session where he created his best known project Tokyo Garfunkel. Attempting to take every collaborator out of their comfort zone Teddy experimented with unrehearsed vocal recordings, extreme juxtaposition and unorthodox vocal use. The project has been praised by its collaborators including Tokyo rap veteran SEEDA, J the Protagonist and Kraftykid. Working tirelessly as a producer, Teddy Robinson continuously dropped singles and beat tapes as well as producing big projects for other artists including two installments of J the Protagonist's mixtape series Good As Gold. Now, having finally moved back and living in Amsterdam, Teddy is still consistently creating a new sound and pathway into hip hop that is at once nostalgic and avant-garde.
