Matt is a collaborative project between the Icelandic musicians Matthías Matthíasson (Matti Matt) and Helgi Reynis Jónasson starting in the year of 2013 with the aim to create a unique sound of pop/rock. Matt released their first album of the band ,,7 Years’’ in the year of 2020. The album is a love story happening throughout 7 years with insight to social matters and speculations. The story is told with tunes so the listeners can really feel the story. Matthías has years of experience and success in the music industry with awards on his name such as the singer of the year and songwriter of the year. Matti has performed in musicals such as Hair and in 1995 he won an Icelandic Music award for the ‘’Best newcomer’’ for his acting in the Jesus Christ superstar. Matthías was recruited to be the singing voice of Sportacus (Icelandic: Íþróttaálfurinn in the Original LazyTown plays and television series. Helgi Reynir has been active in the Icelandic music scene completing his leaving exam from the jazz department of the FÍH Conservatory of Music on electric guitar spring 2012. He has worked with various bands and musicians throughout his career as well as composed music for programs, commercials and films, directed the recording of albums and in charge of music management at various concerts, he has worked as an instrumentalist in TV shows and theater shows. Together the duo form a magical sounding world with tons of experience, quality and playfulness.
