André Campos Romero, a Costa Rican musician, producer, and ethnomusicologist, is known by his alias Nochi, a graduate of the Conservatorio de Castella. His unique style blends acoustic instruments and DJ sets in captivating performances, amalgamating various musical genres with Latin American roots. From Calypso, Cumbia, Afro, Footwork, and Dub Reggae, to Latin club with a touch of Dembow, he will take you on a journey exploring the anthropology of sound. Keep your senses open with the project "Sinergia," a complete album by Nochi, where he continues to explore his artistic and documentary research path of Costa Rican bioacoustics and its relationship with the sonic exploration of contemporary electronic music. The second single of the album is about to be released, adding an exciting chapter of investigation and recording in a creative dynamic alongside various collaborating artists. Nochi is also the creator of AFROCUMBIA events, a space that celebrates cultural diversity on a journey from Africa to Latin America. This project highlights how cumbia resonates with our indigenous and African roots, transcending continental borders. Furthermore, Nochi is the co-founder of Deep Underground Beats, an influential Artist Agency based in San José, Costa Rica. Established 20 years ago by four friends with experience in music, club scene, promotion, radio, and design, the agency has propelled electronic sounds at events throughout the country.
