Basys grew up in Brixton and started making beats when he was about 14 on the Amiga using Octamed. Him and his group of friends were very musical, and everyone either DJed, Produced or MCed. He later released a track on Renegade Recordings with Interactive / Max Cyrus, and was often hanging down the Renegade Hardware HQ near Stockwell when he was around 21. Soon he was a regular on the dnb club scene, his raving crew included Taelimb, Sweetpea, Conscience and pretty much everyone was doing something musical. BaSys later decided to produce in different genres, mainly trip hop as he played guitar and bass and it was what he wanted to explore melodically at the time. But he still kept a love of drum and bass throughout. Later after being inspired by what friends were doing in scene, he decided to dedicate himself to making the best possible drum and bass tracks while hopefully bringing production techniques from different genres and doing something a little different from other producers. He launched the label ROOT 97 in 2022, with the help of a team of talented people from around the world. The debut EP managed to peak at number 8 in the Beatport DnB chart which is almost unheard of for a new label. Scene legends such as Optical leant their support to the label which was a big honour. The next step is to turn ROOT 97 into a full on Golden Era Techstep / Neuro revival, but reimagined for the 2020's. Stay tuned....
