Céline Rudolph is a versatile singer & globetrotter, seamlessly merging modern jazz, Brazilian, African-inspired music & urban sounds. As a self-taught musician, she began composing on the piano & writing songs at a young age. Her musical journey deepened with the gift of a 4-track recorder, allowing her to layer melodies & explore complex compositions. Transitioning from studies in philosophy to jazz vocals & composition, she collaborated with renowned artists like Bobby McFerrin & learned from masters such as Famoudou Konate. Céline's unique vocal language & artistry have earned her praise as one of Europe's most beautiful jazz voices. She has embarked on tours across Europe, Asia & the US. Collaborating with guitarist Lionel Loueke since 2015, their duo album Obsession received critical acclaim. They toured extensively in West Africa, Europe & South Korea. Céline's subsequent album Pearls featured notable musicians & was hailed as a standout jazz vocal record. In addition to collaborations, Céline showcases her solo abilities, combining loops, effects, percussion & guitar. Her latest project, SONIQS formed with multi-instrumentalist Sebastian Merk, incorporates innovative elements such as a custom drum set with keyboards, electronics & video art. Céline's vocal fragments are processed & reassembled, forming looped "songlines" in her compositions. Her music, while complex, maintains a light & playful quality. SONIQS won her the German Jazz Award 2024 as best vocalist.
