Sylvester “Earl” Powell Sr., is an American Songwriter and Music Producer, and the owner of Eptone Music Productions. Originally from Chicago, IL, Earl relocated to California in 2011. Over his musical career, Earl has made musical history. He produced the song “Stand Up” on the self-titled debut album of Jennifer Hudson, which won a Grammy Award. He is also credited with writing and production on the historic 1st solo album release of the legendary Tito Jackson of the Jackson 5, which hit Billboard’s top 20, and featured hip-hop royalty Big Daddy Kane. Earl’s musical credits also include work with Keyshia Cole, Ashanti, Snoop Dogg, The Jacksons, LaTocha Scott, Syleena Johnson, and many more. Earl attended the prestigious Vandercook College of Music in Chicago, where he majored in Trumpet and minored in Piano. It was at Vandercook where he fully learned composition. He’s been an educator and mentor of a lot of professionals that we see and hear today. With 8 collective years of college teaching between Columbia College and Triton College in Chicago, he’s taught hundreds of students in the subjects of record production and music business. Outside of music, Earl is a devoted husband and father of 4, a community volunteer, and a trusted leader in several other arenas of involvement. He is a philanthropist by nature, and an advocate of truth and justice. Earl’s operates from a mindset of bringing and adding value to every encounter.
