Born in Baton Rouge, LA, music has always pulled at her heartstrings. The music on the album “Best Kept Secret”, mostly produced from 2003-2005, yields classics like “Love Shampoo" produced by Brad Lewis and Tim “Headliner” Barnwell of Arrested Development on their label Stress Free Entertainment, and "Goodbye" produced by Isaac Hayes III. Kayenne diversified her sound by writing with Justin Chapman of KemeticJust, and later Kai Alce of NDATL Musik. In 2010, Alce and Kayenne would release the breakout No. 1 charting single "Someone", with help from veteran producer Phil Asher of Restless Soul. "Love Don't Love You Back" was released on legendary dance label Basement Boys Records, with remixes from label owner Teddy Douglas, and special thanks to Rick Corey, Byron The Aquarius & Terry Roanoke, and DJ Swift for the amazing video which can be found on YouTube. “Hey Young World” was yet another chart topper to join the previous No. 1 hits, all of which remained in top ten soulful house category on Traxsource for weeks. This single was blessed with exquisite trumpet playing by Kafele Bandele and a vocal remix by Andy Compton of The Rurals, and has a haunting delivery that speaks to the hearts of an overlooked generation. Kayenne has also worked with several other house producers such as DJ Salah Ananse on the powerful track with belting vocals, “I Must Be Dreaming”.
