photos by Jaylen Early (@jaylenearly on IG) Mitchell Matthews (of Mitchell Matthews Media) is an artist based in St. Louis, Missouri that seamlessly blends singer-songwriter, emo, pop, and even comedic elements into a nice DIY sad (but not always sad) boi package. What sets Matthews’ music apart from other acts, aside from his dense, emotional lyricism and sharp sense of storytelling, is his love for collaboration. While he writes the lyrics/melodies and sings on his songs, the instrumentation is primarily handled by a multitude of his very talented collaborators/friends, so his brand is just as much, if not more, a creative collective than it is a solo venture.
