St. Louis native Ron Schleper was introduced to electronic sounds via Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, and Frontline Assembly before finding house and techno through the vaunted 90s Midwest rave scene. Growing up in a home with a musician for a dad, Ron always knew he wanted to participate in music rather than passively consume it. He started DJing but felt a pull to create the music himself. Delving into hardware drum machines and synthesizers, he soon realized that his heart was drawn to playing his own music as a live artist. His production is equal parts deep musical education and “mashing buttons until something sounds right.” Playing live since 1996, he describes his live approach as “a fine balance of complete control, bordering on total chaos.” Inspired by classic Chicago and Detroit sounds, he twists his influences into his own raw and rugged flavor, centered in Midwest tracky techno and aimed squarely at the dance floor. His label Anode Records has been going strong since 1996 and he maintains a steady release schedule there, along with recent releases on UKR, Acidworx, EUR, Frameworxx, Technological, and others. Twenty-five years in, Ron has stayed true to his sound and his love for the music, and his driving goal is to share his energetic techno grooves on the world stage.
