Biography

We’ve never liked the idea of being ‘just another indie band’”, say King Kuda. The Brighton-based four-piece, whose sound has evolved from classic indie numbers to incorporating “creamy guitars, big hooks, and hypnotic grooves”, first met at university and started jamming in the living room of their shared house. Their 2018 debut single ‘Wildflower’ was packed with spangly guitars and wistful vocals, and now boasts almost half a million streams. New banger, ‘Bloodstream’, however, is reminiscent of electronic artists Dusky and Bonobo, who the band count as recent influences on their sound, as well as indie gods, Foals. “We wanted to write a song that we could drop at one of our house parties”, King Kuda say of their new musical direction. “We've landed on a sound that could fit both an arena or a club”. King Kuda plan to release their debut EP later this year, recorded at the legendary Motor Museum in Liverpool. The process saw them work with five-time GRAMMY Award-winning producer/songwriter, Steve Dub [The Chemical Brothers, Clean Bandit], and producer/mixer, AL Groves [Bring Me The Horizon]. Next summer, the band will “smash the festival circuit”, their sights set on a Pyramid Stage slot at Glastonbury. Masters of their own destiny, King Kuda are making their mark, and this time, they’re here to stay. Facebook/Twitter/Instagram - @KingKudaMusic
