Born in Monrovia, Liberia, Ko-Bena’s journey began in the midst of conflict. Fleeing the civil war at just two years old, he moved between Ivory Coast and Ghana before finally settling in Decatur, Georgia. Growing up between cultures, he was shaped by the dual influences of West African roots and Atlanta’s Trap scene. Navigating life both in school and on the streets, Ko-Bena found his voice in music, blending the traditions of his homeland with the raw energy of Hip Hop. Ko-Bena’s music tells the story of survival and resilience. Drawing inspiration from legends like Lucky Dube and the struggle for survival that defined much of his early life, his sound is a unique fusion of African rhythms and trap beats. His lyrics paint vivid pictures of his experiences, capturing the complexities of displacement, migration, and adaptation. His music isn’t just a reflection of his past—it’s a testament to the African Dream, an anthem for those who rise from adversity and make their mark on the world. Ko-Bena is not only an artist, but a voice for a generation that has had to navigate the worlds between home and hope.
