Lord Mayor is a Bloemfontein based musician, co-producer and manager of The Movement Crew, a local house music brand in Bloemfontein, Free State. Lord, whose real name is Bafana Tshabalala, founded and launched The Movement Crew with music producer Lelo Gruv in January 2019 through NepUcle Music, and has had a significant impact and contribution to the production and publishing of works at the label. Mayor also manages The Movement Crew SA Publishing in Association with NepUcle Music, a partnership that aims to push local/bloemfontein based content. The partnership also intends to manage young and upcoming artist in and around the Mangaung area. Lord's musical journey unfolded through his love for piano when as an austauschüler (exchange student) in Germany in 2009, he began taking lessons by himself on the piano in a musical room at his host family's house in Ochsenhausen, BW. Upon his return to South Africa, he bought himself a practice keyboard in 2010 with a €200 token of appreciation from his host family in Germany. Mayor is mostly influenced by Gospel, Soulful RnB, Jazz, and Soulful & Deep House. His love for soulful & deep house music is what gave birth to The Movement Crew. Mayor's house music influences are from artists like Ralf GUM, Dj Christos, Dj Rocco Radamal, Reel People, and The Layabouts.
