Initially raised in South Central LA during the 1992 riots, Kaliq is familiar with change. At a young age, Kaliq witnessed his city burned to the ground as a result of racial turmoil in the country. Kaliq grew up in highly active gang territory, but his devout Muslim mother and father raised him with knowledge of self and encouraged him to study his ancestor's history. These themes have always been reflected in Kaliq's music. Kaliq grew up marching and protesting police brutality, and was heavily influenced by watching his father help organize the first Million Man March. Kaliq began making music at 13 years old when his father Jah, a longtime musician, produced a beat and took Kaliq to record over it. Since that experience, Kaliq has been constantly involved in songwriting and performing. A contributing writer for the unreleased "Detox" album by Dr Dre, Kaliq has worked with Grammy award winning and nominated producers (Dr Dre, Che Pope, Dawaun Parker, Haze Banga) as well as legendary hip hop artists (Prodigy of MobbDeep, Fabolous, Maino, Joe Budden). Kaliq's notable releases include "Pharaoh Music", "Kaliq The EP", and "New America". Kaliq turned down several major label offers while traveling back and forth between LA, Miami, Atlanta, and New York, making a living as a ghostwriter for established artists. Kaliq has a vast catalog of unreleased music spanning multiple genres. Kaliq is a hidden diamond of hip hop, finally unearthed.
