New York City native, Dia Dulcé, grew up listening to artists who embody female empowerment. Influenced by Missy Elliott, Destiny’s Child and Lauryn Hill, she says, “I definitely make songs for women." Born Diandra and nicknamed Dia by friends, the singer-songwriter added “Dulcé” to her moniker, which serves as a reminder to never give up – your sweet day awaits. Dia studied communications at Howard University. Soon she began taking her craft seriously and left Howard to intern at RCA Records/SONY Music. Dia recalls an amazing experience at Sony, full of insight about the music industry. Soon, she found she was helping others live out their dreams and pointedly decided to shift focus to her own. Dia prides herself on creating honest music that relays her own personal experiences giving an unfiltered and unapologetic voice for girls and women everywhere.
