Singer/songwriter and composer, MOAHI, is a genre-challenging, indie/alt hip-hop artist based in Cape Town. His love for music production, singing and recording started out in his bedroom where he would record himself and experiment with mixing his vocals. This experimental, DIY approach is clearly heard in his earliest singles and debut EP (This Was Once a Sketch) which showcases his talent and potential in an uncut, raw fashion. Since then, he has teamed up with a host of other talented producers and composers to create new bodies of work to be released in the new year. In an interview with Oneul Zine, he named Steve Lacy, Thundercat, James Blake, and Baby Keem as a few of his most recent inspirations, and also explained how he wants his listeners to hear his growth and improvement in his musical journey, something which has been a challenge in vulnerability for him.
