Kix’s passion for music started in Shreveport, LA. Years of playing music across Louisiana led him to Nashville where he started his career writing songs for artists such as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Highway 101, and John Conlee. In 1990, he teamed up with Ronnie Dunn to form Brooks & Dunn, who are the highest selling duo in country music. They have sold over 30 million records, won more than 75 major industry awards, have had 20 #1 hit songs and in 2019 were inducted into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2006 Kix took over as host of the award-winning syndicated radio show, American Country Countdown. Kix continues to give back to his community and in December 2014 was named the first recipient of the CMA’s Humanitarian Award. He raises Beefmaster cattle on his farm just outside of Nashville and is a founding partner of Arrington Vineyards, a highly successful winery in Arrington, TN. In 2015, Brooks & Dunn joined Reba McEntire for Reba + Brooks & Dunn: Together In Vegas, a Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace that lasted for 105 shows. In 2021 they hit the road with their Reboot Tour – a successful tour that continues to sell out across the country. In October 2023, Kix had the distinguished honor of being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame – an honor that highlights writing songs for Nashville’s best artists and many of Brooks & Dunn’s top hits.
