Shunaji’s genre-bending production blends hip-hop with a soulful jazz-funk twist, constantly pushing the boundaries of mainstream music. Having released her third EP ‘Cosmic Blues’ in 2020, Shunaji released the singles Word Is Bond and Evil Cute, celebrated in a series of Spotify Editorial playlists. Shunaji has been releasing music independently since 2018 when she stepped out with her debut EP ‘Midnight Movie’ which was #1 on Jamz Supernova's EP of the Week (BBC 1XTRA). Since then, Shunaji has performed in the UK and internationally, including Glastonbury Festival, We Out Here, Love Supreme and Montreux Jazz Festival. She credits growing up in Rome as a huge influence on her musically, where a strong awareness of looking different gave her the energy and inspiration to write genre-bending, free, and thought-provoking music. The phrase “an alien alienated” has since become her tagline, as she now unapologetically celebrates herself and everything that makes her unique. This self-affirmation boldly shines through in her artistry, while she takes inspiration from a range of boundary-pushing artists such as Little Simz, Noname, Lizzo and Missy Elliott to name a few.
