For Birmingham, AL native, Brian B-Flat Cook, his musical journey began by stumbling upon a keyboard underneath the couch as a child — seriously. From there, listening to R&B and Rap songs on the radio while attempting to play them by ear, he found, felt like second nature. It wasn’t long before Cook sought out how to start developing music of his own with a heavy R&B influence. Using music workstations and software, he started making tracks and selling them to local artists for their projects. Though he’d probably go to the ends of the earth to ensure that no one ever hears those super early works, many proclaimed that they were really good and he should continue — and so the journey continued. Over time, many influences have shaped the different elements Cook brings to his sound as a producer and artist. The multi faceted singer currently plays piano, guitar, bass, and most recently, the harmonica which was first introduced on his song entitled “Outta My Life.” These ingredients, plus the Hip-Hop/Rap background help shape a unique sound that “Flat” displays on each project. Cook most recently released his debut EP, “Yes Ma’am.” He, alongside production partner, RL, also produced/wrote a single for Lil Duval entitled “Pull Up” featuring Ty Dolla $ign — remix features 2 Chainz. Previously, he’s worked with Gospel artist, Canton Jones, R&B group, NEXT, and alongside DJ Burn One, he co-produced Freddie Gibbs’s “Rep 2 Tha Fullest” with TDE’s Jay Rock.
