Son of the composer Paulo Soledade, Paulinho Soledade had some success with "Raio de Sol" (written with Renato Terra) and "O Triângulo dos Biquínis" (written with Erasmo Carlos), among others; having had his compositions recorded by Erasmo Carlos, Sandra de Sá, Daniela Mercury, Sandy & Júnior, Baby do Brasil, Banda Zil, Ricardo Silveira, and Nico Resende. In 1995, he wrote the arrangements to the CD Joyce Collins Embraces the Brazilian Hearts, participating as a singer on the track "Eu e a Brisa" (Johnny Alf). Having directed the music for Marina Lima's first show, as a sideman he worked with Michel Legrand, João Donato, Ivan Lins, Belchior, João Nogueira, Daniela Mercury, Chitãozinho e Xororó, Leandro, Zezé de Camargo e Luciano, Tim Maia, Sandra de Sá, Paulinho Moska, Jane Duboc, Arnaldo Antunes, Guilherme Arantes, and Zélia Duncan. As a backing vocalist and/or vocal arranger, Soledade worked with Dionne Warwick, Julio Iglesias, Gilberto Gil, Nelson Gonçalves, and Roberto Carlos. Soledade also wrote arrangements for Tim Maia, Cauby Peixoto, Wanderley Cardoso, Guilherme Arantes, Baby do Brasil, Moraes Moreira, and Beto Guedes; and participated in the soundtracks of the TV Globo soap operas Brega e Chique, Bebê a Bordo, Andando nas Nuvens, and Uga Uga; having written with Dudu Falcão a great number of songs for As Filhas da Mãe. Soledade started on the guitar, taught by his father and by his older sister, and at 13 he took Baden Powell as his teacher. In the '70s, he had his professional debut participating as a backing vocalist in Erasmo Carlos' LP A Banda dos Contentes, becoming his electric and acoustic guitarist and having songs recorded by Carlos. From 1977 to 1979, Soledade was the guitarist of the group Semente, which also included Cláudio Nucci (vocals/guitar), Mário Adnet (vocals/guitar), Cláudio Infante (drums), Ricardo Mará (bass), Zé Luís Oliveira (brass), and Márcio Resende (brass).
