Combining influences from Pop, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary R&B, no artist is quite as versatile as Chicago-born Austen the Poet. His series of remixes of famous tracks has amassed thousands of streams across Soundcloud. His most recent original EP, Emotional Oranges Vol. II, has appeared on many playlists including The Q Review LGBT Music Project’s New Queer Friday (MAKE ME , WAY BACK) and Out the Box Magazine’s Pass the Aux and Trill Hop (CLIMBED UP). Writing, producing, and recording each song from his home studio, Austen creates a simple soundscape that allows his integrity and humanity to shine through every track. Retelling the stories of his own life through song, he hopes to connect with other members of the LGBTQIA+ community and dreams that his work will not only show others how different we can be but also how similar we are. With sharp, witty, and silly raps - akin to the likes of Nicki Minaj or Doja Cat - smooth vocal layering and harmonizing with deep tonal arrangements - reminiscent of Ariana Grande, Victoria Monét, or Troye Sivan - and complex, poetic lyrics - inspired by the works of Tayla Parx or Charlie Puth, Austen the Poet is a melting pot of human experience.
